Paula Abdul was definitely not going to miss Kelly Clarkson’s big moment.

On Monday, the daytime talk show host, 40, was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and all three were original american idol judges – Simon Cowell, Abdul and Randy Jackson – reunited to show their support.

“I am so proud to be here, honored,” said Abdul, 60, during her speech in support of Clarkson, who became the first-ever idol winner 20 years ago. “I changed my flight so I could be here. I wouldn’t miss it for anything. Kelly – not only has the trajectory of your life changed, but you have helped change the trajectory of everyone’s life.”

Abdul briefly arrived at Cowell’s speech, prompting the outspoken judge to crack a few jokes before “Opposites Attract” singer praising Clarkson for her “talent,” “tenacity,” “grace” and “dignity.”

She said Clarkson “made season one worth it all,” jokingly, “Even if I had to sit next to a British man to my left. And a great man to my right.”

Abdul continued: “If anyone can ever say in your wildest dreams, ‘Did you ever think you’d be part of a show that just changed the world?’ I’d be a liar if I said yes. But you’re living proof every day, and I’m the one who would force myself to talk to her and put her in the elevator in a corner.” Where did you get your education? You’re an opera singer, I can see that.” But I love you.”

Abdul thanked Clarkson “for changing the trajectory of my life and making me believe like a kid believes in Santa Claus. That young, talented people can make it — and they can make it big.”

She ended by telling Clarkson, who she called “the sweetest person,” that she can’t wait to see what she will accomplish in the next decade.

Shortly afterward, Clarkson received her long-awaited star.

On September 4, Clarkson looked back on the 20th anniversary of her “priceless” idol to win.

“The family and friendships I’ve created in music and TV over the past 20 years are invaluable to me,” she wrote in part. “We make only so many journeys around the sun, and while I am proud and abundantly blessed with the successes and failures I have learned, I am most proud and grateful for those friends who have become family, and for their arms who have held me fast when I needed it and their hearts that listened to me when I felt lost. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am. I probably wouldn’t be here at all.”
